Infertility is common in men and women; statistics say that nearly 1 in every 7 couples experience infertility, and in up to half of these couples, male infertility plays a role. Although the problem is common in men, social stigma and taboo revolving around the topic make it hard for men to open up about male infertility.

To make things more clear, let’s understand the issue better:

What is male infertility?

Male infertility is a problem with a male’s reproductive system that prevents him from conceiving a child with a female partner despite having unprotected sex for over a year. This is most often due to problems with his sperm production or with sperm delivery.

What causes male infertility?

Naturally, male reproduction depends on:

  • Making a healthy sperm that can fertilize the egg
  • Having an erection and ejaculate, so the sperm reaches the egg
Problems with either of these can result in male infertility.

Below are some other causes:

Disorders with sperm: Sperm disorders are one of the common reasons for male infertility. Here, the problem lies with sperm shape, quality, quantity, maturity, and ability to swim. In most cases, low sperm count or even no sperm count is a factor determining male infertility.

Structural problems: If the genital tract is blocked and in any way stops the flow of semen, it can result in male infertility. This could be genetic or by birth. Other than this, infection or inflammation from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can also lead to structural problems. Other reasons include scar tissue from surgery or twisted, swollen veins in the scrotum.

Other causes: Other causes include erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation. Seizure disorders and treatments of the liver and kidney also lead to the problems of male infertility in some cases.

What is female infertility?

Female infertility is a problem with a female’s reproductive system, wherein a woman’s ability to naturally get pregnant and give birth to a child is impaired or limited in some way. Although female infertility is difficult to diagnose, there are treatments available depending on the cause of infertility.

What causes female infertility?

There are many possible causes of infertility in females, some of which are mentioned below:

Uterine trouble:  Uterinal problems interfere with conception, and increase the risk of a miscarriage. Problems like polyps (a growth or mass), fibroids, scar tissue, and radiation damage are linked to uterine trouble. These problems impede the uterine cavity and increase the risk of severe female factor infertility.

Damaged fallopian tubes: The most common cause of tubal blockage or damage is pelvic infections, endometriosis, and pelvic surgery. The tubal blockage can prevent the sperm from reaching the egg, resulting in no fertilization and no implantation.

Reduced egg number and quality: Women are born with all eggs they will ever have. Hence, with the increasing age, the egg number and quality gradually declines. In addition to this, there are high chances of the eggs having chromosomal deformities which further lead to difficulty in fertilization and unhealthy fetuses.

Hormonal issues:  Hormonal imbalances are the leading cause of infertility in women. These issues lead to the problems of PCOS, anovulation and add up to the problems of conceiving.

Ovulation issues: There are several reasons why a woman may not ovulate regularly. Some of the factors that might interfere with ovulation are hormonal imbalances, a history of eating disorders, substance abuse, thyroid issues, severe stress, and pituitary tumors.

Unexplained infertility: The cause of infertility is sometimes never identified. Unexpected reproductive issues could be caused by a combination of small variables in both partners. Although it’s frustrating to get no precise answer, this issue will eventually resolve itself. Infertility treatment, in this case, should not be delayed.

How IVF helps couples conceive Almost 30% of couples, who seek help, can eventually have a child, either on their own or with medical intervention. But how exactly does medical intervention solve the problem? Today, one of the advanced fertility treatments that help solve the most complex infertility issues is In Vitro Fertilization. Most commonly known as IVF, the procedure helps aspiring parents bring home healthy babies. Introduced back in the 90s, this treatment gave hope to millions of couples from around the world to have their biological children. In the process of natural conception, fertilization takes place inside a woman’s body, next the newly formed embryo gets attached to the lining of the uterus and continues to grow, and a baby is born 9 months later. On the other hand, IVF is a form of assisted reproductive technology (ART). The treatment uses medications to trigger the process of ovulation in females. Next, surgical procedures are used to help sperm fertilize an egg artificially in the lab, after which, this fertilized egg and formed embryo is implanted back in the female’s uterus.

IVF can exponentially increase your chances of a healthy pregnancy and happy parenthood

Treatments at Progenesis Fertility Center

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is the fertility treatment where sperms are inserted directly into the women’s cervix, fallopian tubes or uterus at the time of ovulation to enhance chances of fertilization.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a procedure in which mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperms in the lab. The embryo thus formed is transferred to the uterus to achieve conception.

ICSI is a specialized form of IVF often recommended after multiple failed fertilization attempts through conventional IVF or sometimes after egg freezing.

LAH is a procedure wherein the outer shell (zona pellucida) of a fertilized egg is gently thinned using an ultramodern laser. The process improves the chance of better hatching and embryo implantation into uterus

Blastocyst Transfer

Blastocyst embryo transfer is a specialised In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) technique in which an embryo cultured to the blastocyst stage is transferred to the women’s uterus.

Oocyte Donation

Oocyte donation involves egg retrieval from the donor, in which a fertile woman donates an egg, or oocyte, to another woman to help her conceive.

Embryo Donation

Embryo donation is often recommended when the couple is unable to conceive through IVF using their own sperms and eggs. In this case the couple can choose to adopt a healthy embryo for a successful course of pregnancy.

Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure, a part of fertility testing, wherein a doctor evaluates thethe structures of the reproductive system, including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus.

What People Say

You can reach us at the address mentioned above or you can call us on +91-942 397 1620.

If you and your partner have been trying to conceive for over a year and have not gotten a positive result, you should visit a Fertility Consultant and have your primary checkups done. It is also advised that people in their 20s and early 30s who are trying to conceive refrain from using birth control for 12 months.

IVF is a treatment of choice, but it can certainly be a good option for people diagnosed with specific infertility issues like blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, male factor infertility, and unexplained infertility. But before going forward with the treatment, it is necessary to take a thorough medical exam and talk to the doctor about the pros and cons.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of the various treatments that can help couples with having difficulty conceiving a child. IVF involves removing an egg from a woman's ovaries and fertilizing it with sperm in a laboratory. After fertilization, the fertilized egg, known as an embryo, is injected back into the woman's womb to grow and develop.

At Nashik Center, we provide all advanced infertility treatments under one roof. Based on the in-depth diagnosis of couples and adoption of world-class techniques we provide-

• Lased Assisted Hatching
• Frozen Embryo Transfer
• Blastocyst Transfer
• Sequential Embryo Transfer

The cost of IVF treatment in Nashik varies depending on the type of treatment that supports your fertility needs. As a result, the cost will be determined after the couple's in-depth assessment and evaluation.
